SHINING 3D Supports RMIT in Additive Manufacturing at Global Skills Challenge 2026
SHINING 3D has partnered with RMIT University to support the Additive Manufacturing competition at the WorldSkills Australia Global Skills Challenge 2026 (GSC26), held in Wollongong in collaboration with TAFE NSW. The event brought together over 400 competitors from 16 countries, serving as a key preparatory competition for the 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai, China.
RMIT University selected SHINING 3D’s FreeScan UE Pro — a metrology-grade 3D scanner — to provide high-precision, rapid data capture for participants. Renowned for its accuracy, lightweight design, and advanced scanning modes, the FreeScan UE Pro enabled competitors to efficiently digitize physical components, supporting workflows in reverse engineering, design optimization, and additive manufacturing under pressure.
The collaboration highlights the growing integration of digital innovation in engineering education. By deploying industrial-grade 3D scanning technology in a competitive setting, SHINING 3D and RMIT are bridging academia and industry, preparing students for real-world manufacturing challenges.
